About Al Hayba
Al Hayba is a pan-Arab drama, produced for MBC and shot largely in Lebanon, that centers on a powerful clan living in a remote village along the Lebanese-Syrian border. The family's patriarch, Jabal Sheikh Al Jabal, leads a tight-knit community bound by tribal loyalty, old codes of honor, and a cross-border trade that operates outside the reach of the state. Into this closed world arrives Alia, the widow of Jabal's late brother, returning from the city with her young son and a desire to build a different kind of life.
Across five seasons the series weaves a sweeping family saga around the slow-burning relationship between Jabal and Alia, the rivalries and alliances within the clan, and the pressures bearing down on a way of life that feels increasingly out of step with the modern world. The show frames its border-trade backdrop primarily as a source of moral conflict rather than spectacle, focusing on the human cost of loyalty, the weight of inherited duty, and the tension between tradition and the choices its younger characters want to make for themselves.
Anchored by Syrian star Taim Hassan and Lebanese actress Nadine Nassib Njeim, Al Hayba became one of the most widely watched Ramadan dramas in the Arab world during its run, praised for its rugged mountain settings, melodramatic momentum, and ensemble of regional stars. Its mix of romance, family intrigue, and rural atmosphere helped make the title a recognizable brand across multiple Arab broadcasters and streaming on Shahid.
