About Bangkok Breaking
Bangkok Breaking is a Thai action drama created by Kongkiat Komesiri that premiered on Netflix in September 2021. The series follows Wanchai, a young man who travels from the countryside to Bangkok in search of his missing brother and takes a job with one of the city's volunteer rescue foundations. These privately run organizations race to accident and crime scenes ahead of one another, and the work pulls Wanchai into a far darker world than the humanitarian mission he expected.
As Wanchai learns the trade, he partners with Kala, a determined investigative journalist who has been chasing a story about corruption tied to the rescue networks. Together they begin to uncover how money, politics, and organized crime move beneath the surface of the capital's emergency response system. The deeper they dig, the more the disappearance of Wanchai's brother appears connected to a much larger conspiracy that powerful people will kill to protect.
Shot across the streets, expressways, and back alleys of Bangkok, the series blends kinetic action sequences with a procedural mystery and a portrait of ordinary workers caught between duty and survival. Bangkok Breaking marked one of the higher-profile Thai original projects in Netflix's Southeast Asian slate, pairing a recognizable local cast with a glossy, internationally aimed production style. It was later followed by a standalone film continuation that expanded on the world of the rescue foundations.
