About Cable Girls

In 1928 Madrid, a gleaming new national telephone company throws open its doors, and with them a rare chance for women to earn their own wages. Four operators from wildly different worlds find their lives wired together at the switchboard, where every connected call hums with ambition, secrets and longing. What begins as a job quickly becomes a lifeline.

At the center is Lidia, a sharp-eyed con artist who slips into the company under a borrowed name, only to be ensnared by the very past she came to bury. Around her, the friendships deepen into something fierce as the women navigate forbidden love, blackmail, abusive husbands and the slow, dangerous awakening of female independence. Romance tangles with betrayal, and loyalty is tested against survival.

Spanning the glamour of the Roaring Twenties through the shadow of the Spanish Civil War, the series charts a decade of upheaval with lavish costumes and breathless melodrama. It is a story of women who refuse to be silenced, anchored by the luminous Blanca Suárez.
