About Carole and Tuesday
Set fifty years after humanity colonized and terraformed Mars, Carole and Tuesday follows two young women from opposite ends of society who are united by a shared dream of making music. Carole Stanley is an orphan scraping by on a string of part-time jobs in the bustling city of Alba City, while Tuesday Simmons is the sheltered daughter of a powerful politician who runs away from home with nothing but her acoustic guitar. A chance meeting on a bridge sparks an instant creative chemistry, and the two decide to write and perform songs together despite an industry increasingly dominated by AI-generated music.
Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe at Studio Bones, the series is a love letter to the act of human creation. As Carole and Tuesday build a following from open-mic nights toward a televised talent competition, the show contrasts their hand-made, heartfelt approach with the slickly manufactured career of pop idol Angela Carpenter. Along the way they are taken under the wing of Gus, a washed-up former music manager, and Roddy, a kindhearted sound engineer, who help the duo chase what one character calls 'the seven-minute miracle' that can change the world.
Across twenty-four episodes the story widens from an intimate two-girl band tale into a broader meditation on art, immigration politics, fame, and the people history forgets. Featuring original English-language songs written by a roster of international musicians, Carole and Tuesday blends Watanabe's signature musical sensibility with an optimistic, character-driven drama about friendship and the courage to put something real into the world.
