About Colony
Colony is a dystopian science-fiction thriller set in a near-future Los Angeles that has been carved into walled-off blocs under a mysterious military occupation backed by an unseen alien force known only as the Hosts. The human collaborators who run the regime call themselves the Transitional Authority, and they enforce order through a brutal proxy security force, sudden disappearances, and the constant threat of being shipped to a place called the Factory. Beneath the surface, an armed underground resistance fights to expose and overthrow the occupation.
At the center of the story are Will and Katie Bowman, a married couple separated from one of their sons on the day the walls went up. To survive and to find their lost child, the Bowmans are pulled into impossible bargains with the authorities, and they are slowly torn apart by competing loyalties as Will is pressed into hunting insurgents while Katie quietly aids the resistance. The series uses the science-fiction premise as a lens for very human questions about complicity, occupation, and what families will do to stay together.
Across three seasons the show widens its scope from one neighborhood to the larger machinery of the occupation, revealing more about the Hosts, the resistance, and the people who profit from collaboration. Created by Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, Colony ran on USA Network from 2016 to 2018 and built a devoted following for its tense, morally gray storytelling before ending after its third season.
