About The 100
The 100 is a post-apocalyptic science fiction drama developed by Jason Rothenberg and based on the young adult book series by Kass Morgan. Set nearly a century after a nuclear apocalypse devastated Earth, the story follows the survivors who have lived in space aboard a fragile orbiting station called the Ark. When life support begins to fail, the leaders make a desperate gamble and send one hundred imprisoned juveniles back to the surface to test whether the planet is once again survivable.
What the young exiles discover is that the ground is far more dangerous and complicated than anyone expected. The radiation-ravaged Earth is not empty but home to clans of survivors known as Grounders, along with other factions whose histories stretch back to the apocalypse. As the delinquents struggle to stay alive, they form alliances, wage wars, and make brutal choices, while the remaining population of the Ark fights to follow them down to the ground before their air runs out.
Over seven seasons the series evolves from a teen survival adventure into a sprawling saga about leadership, sacrifice, and what it costs to protect the people you love. The characters confront threats ranging from rival clans and artificial intelligence to a second wave of radiation and even interstellar travel, repeatedly grappling with the moral weight of survival. Known for its high body count and morally gray heroes, The 100 became a cult favorite that aired on The CW from 2014 to 2020.
