About Supernatural
Supernatural is a long-running American urban-fantasy drama created by Eric Kripke that follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they crisscross the back roads of America hunting monsters, demons, and other things that go bump in the night. Raised by their father John after their mother Mary was killed by a demon when they were children, the brothers grow up inside a secret world of hunters who protect ordinary people from supernatural threats. Driving a 1967 Chevrolet Impala and armed with rock-salt shotguns, holy water, and a trunk full of weapons, Sam and Dean chase down vengeful spirits, shapeshifters, and urban legends while searching for the demon that destroyed their family.
What begins as a monster-of-the-week road trip gradually expands into a sweeping mythology spanning Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and everything in between. Over the seasons the Winchesters face the rise of the demon Azazel, the opening of a devil's gate, the looming Apocalypse, and the battle between angels and demons for control of the world. Along the way they gain unlikely allies, most notably the trench-coated angel Castiel, the gruff hunter and surrogate father figure Bobby Singer, and the wisecracking King of Hell, Crowley. Death, sacrifice, and resurrection become recurring threads as the brothers repeatedly trade their own lives and souls to save each other and the world.
Across fifteen seasons the show evolves into a story about family, free will, and the bonds that hold the brothers together against impossible odds. Sam and Dean confront Lucifer, the Darkness, and even an antagonistic vision of God himself, all while wrestling with grief, addiction, destiny, and the cost of always choosing each other. Blending genuine scares with humor, classic rock, and self-aware meta episodes, Supernatural built one of television's most devoted fan communities and became one of the longest-running American genre series ever produced before concluding its journey in 2020.
