About Enfermeras
Enfermeras is a Colombian medical drama set in the busy wards of Santa Rosa Hospital in Bogota, where a close-knit team of nurses carries the everyday weight of caring for patients while juggling their own ambitions, friendships and heartbreaks. At the center is Maria Clara Gonzalez, the dedicated head nurse whose steady professionalism masks a private life in turmoil after she discovers her marriage is built on a painful secret. As she begins a new chapter, the hospital becomes both her refuge and the stage for a fresh start.
Produced by Ana Maria Perez for Canal RCN, the series uses an episodic case-of-the-week format reminiscent of La ley del corazon, weaving urgent medical situations together with the long-running personal arcs of its staff. A warm-hearted romance grows between Maria Clara and Carlos Perez, an idealistic young resident doctor whose connection with her deepens beyond friendship despite resistance from his family and the everyday pressures of hospital life. Around them, head nurse Gloria Mayorga and a wide ensemble of colleagues bring rivalry, humor and solidarity to the floor.
Across its run the show balances tender romance with workplace drama, including questionable dealings among hospital administrators and the constant strain of life-and-death decisions, all handled in a tasteful, non-graphic register. After the original leads departed, the lead roles passed to a new set of doctors and nurses who carried Santa Rosa Hospital through its later seasons. The result is a popular, character-driven telenovela that celebrates the compassion, resilience and camaraderie of the nursing profession.
