About Entrapped
Entrapped is an Icelandic Nordic noir crime drama created by Baltasar Kormakur and produced by RVK Studios in association with the national broadcaster RUV. It serves as a sequel to the acclaimed series Trapped, picking up two years after the events of the second season and reuniting audiences with police officers Andri Olafsson and Hinrika. Originally broadcast in Iceland in 2021, the story was edited into six episodes and released worldwide on Netflix under the English title Entrapped in September 2022.
The investigation begins with a death at a remote highland farm and quickly expands into a tense standoff over a contested stretch of land. A neopagan spiritual community known as The Extended Family, led by the charismatic Oddur, regards the territory as sacred, while a hardened motorcycle club asserts a competing claim, drawing dangerous reinforcements from abroad. Andri and Hinrika must navigate clashing belief systems, buried grievances, and the unforgiving Icelandic landscape as the case threatens to ignite open conflict.
Like its predecessor, Entrapped pairs procedural mystery with character study, using Iceland's stark scenery as both backdrop and pressure cooker. The series weaves themes of faith, family, and territorial loyalty into a slow-burning thriller, and is generally noted for its atmospheric direction and the grounded performance at its center. It stands as a self-contained continuation that rewards viewers familiar with Trapped while remaining accessible to newcomers to the franchise.
