About Gram Chikitsalay
Gram Chikitsalay is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama from The Viral Fever (TVF), the studio behind Panchayat, that premiered on Prime Video on 9 May 2025. The five-episode series follows Dr. Prabhat Sinha, an idealistic young doctor from the city who is posted as the medical officer in charge of a run-down rural primary health centre in the fictional Bihar village of Bhatkandi. Expecting to heal patients and modernise the clinic, he instead runs headlong into peeling walls, missing supplies, indifferent staff and villagers who would rather trust a local quack than a government doctor.
Much of the show's gentle humour comes from the gap between Prabhat's textbook optimism and the everyday realities of small-town public health. He must coax a lazy and entrenched staff into doing their jobs, navigate village politics and bureaucracy, and contend with Chetak Kumar, a self-styled local healer whose homespun remedies and easy charm have made him the community's first port of call. The clinic's compounder Gobind Bhagat and other staff slowly become unlikely allies as Prabhat learns that winning trust matters as much as any diagnosis.
Warm, unhurried and rooted in a recognisably Indian rural setting, Gram Chikitsalay sits firmly in the Panchayat-style slice-of-life tradition: low-stakes on the surface, but quietly observant about institutions, community and the meaning of care. Created under the TVF banner by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar and directed by Rahul Pandey, the series leans on character and atmosphere rather than melodrama, and was received as a likeable, good-natured addition to TVF's catalogue of small-town comedies.
