About Impuros
Impuros is a Brazilian crime drama that premiered on Fox Premium in October 2018 and later continued on Star Plus and Disney Plus. Set largely in 1990s Rio de Janeiro, the series follows Evandro do Dende, a young man from a hillside favela whose ambitions are upended when his older brother, a drug trafficker, is killed by police. Driven by grief and a hunger for retribution, Evandro is pulled into the same underworld he once hoped to escape, and over successive seasons he rises into a central figure in the city's narcotics trade.
Opposing him is Victor Morello, a federal agent whose dogged pursuit of Evandro becomes as much a personal obsession as a professional duty. Their long cat-and-mouse confrontation anchors the show, framed less as a simple chase than as a study of two men shaped by the same harsh environment who end up on opposite sides of the law. Around them, the series builds an ensemble of family members, rivals, and officers whose loyalties shift as the stakes escalate.
Praised for production values that exceeded typical expectations for Brazilian premium television at the time, Impuros earned lead actor Raphael Logam consecutive International Emmy nominations for Best Actor. The series presents its account of crime, policing, and the human cost of the drug economy as a work of dramatized fiction inspired by familiar tensions in Brazilian urban life, and its long run across multiple platforms made it one of the country's most enduring original scripted series.
