About Itaewon Class

Itaewon Class follows Park Sae-ro-yi, a principled young man whose life is upended when his father is killed in a hit-and-run involving the heir to Jangga, a powerful food and restaurant conglomerate. After assaulting the arrogant heir in a fit of rage and refusing to bow to the company chairman, Park Sae-ro-yi is expelled from school and later imprisoned. Released years later, he sets out on a long, methodical campaign to build his own business and bring down the empire that destroyed his family.

Settling in the vibrant, multicultural Itaewon district of Seoul, he pours his savings into a small pub-restaurant called DanBam (Sweet Night). With a fiercely loyal and unconventional crew, including the brilliant but blunt social-media influencer Jo Yi-seo, an ex-gang leader, and a transgender chef, Park Sae-ro-yi works to turn the modest bar into a thriving franchise that can rival Jangga itself.

The series weaves together themes of revenge, perseverance, social prejudice, and loyalty, framed by a slow-burn love triangle and a generational rivalry between Park Sae-ro-yi and the Jang family. Based on a popular webtoon by Jo Kwang-jin, who also wrote the screenplay, it became one of jTBC's highest-rated dramas and a major international hit on Netflix.
