About Lockerbie: A Search for Truth

On 21 December 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was blown out of the sky above the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing all 259 people aboard and 11 on the ground. Among the dead was Flora Swire, a brilliant medical student travelling to spend Christmas with her family. For her father, a gentle Worcestershire doctor, that loss became the beginning of a fight that would consume the rest of his life.

The series follows Jim Swire across more than three decades as grief hardens into a relentless campaign for answers. Convinced that the official story does not add up, he confronts governments, lobbies prime ministers, sits through the long trial at Camp Zeist, and even travels to meet Colonel Gaddafi in Libya. The closer he gets to the men blamed for the atrocity, the more troubling his doubts become.

Adapted from the memoir written by Jim Swire and Peter Biddulph, this is a sober, intimate portrait of one man weighing truth against the cost it exacts from those who love him. Colin Firth plays the unwavering Dr Swire, with Catherine McCormack as his wife Jane, holding the family together through the long years of his quest.
