About Maestro in Blue
Maestro in Blue is a Greek-language romantic drama created by, written by and directed by Christoforos Papakaliatis, who also stars as Orestis, a musician invited to a small, sun-drenched Ionian island to organize and revive its summer music festival. As he settles into the slower rhythm of island life and begins shaping the program, he is drawn to the community around him and gradually entangled in the quiet hopes and frictions of the families who live there year-round.
At the heart of the series is a tender, complicated romance between Orestis and Klelia, a nineteen-year-old aspiring musician preparing for her music-school exams. Their bond grows through rehearsals, shared songs and the intimacy of making music together, even as the difference in their ages and circumstances makes the relationship delicate and uncertain. Around them, the festival becomes a backdrop for old loyalties, ambitions and long-held island secrets.
Anchored by Papakaliatis alongside Klelia Andriolatou and Fanis Mouratidis, the show pairs warm Mediterranean visuals with an emotive score, framing the island itself as a character. Originally broadcast on Greek television before reaching a worldwide audience through Netflix, Maestro in Blue became one of the most widely seen Greek series internationally, praised for its scenery, its music and its slow-burning central love story.
