About Given

Given follows Ritsuka Uenoyama, a high schooler and gifted guitarist who has grown bored with the instrument that once meant everything to him. His routine is upended when he meets Mafuyu Sato, a quiet classmate who carries a beautiful but unplayable guitar everywhere he goes. When Ritsuka offers to restring and tune it, the two are drawn into an unexpected friendship rooted in music.

Mafuyu is haunted by the loss of a close friend, and the grief he cannot put into words slowly finds shape through song. As Ritsuka coaxes him toward singing, the pair join forces with bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji to form a band. Through rehearsals, small gigs, and the patient work of learning to play together, each member confronts feelings they have struggled to express.

Adapted by studio Lerche from Natsuki Kizu's manga, the television series is a tender coming-of-age music drama. It treats heartbreak, healing, and first love with quiet honesty, building toward a live performance where Mafuyu finally gives voice to everything he has been holding inside. Gentle and emotionally resonant, Given became a landmark title celebrated for its sincerity and its memorable original songs.
