About Bocchi the Rock!

Bocchi the Rock! follows Hitori Gotoh, a painfully shy high-school girl who dreams of joining a band but is far too anxious to talk to anyone. Posting solo guitar covers online under the handle Guitarhero, she practices obsessively in her room, racking up real skill while remaining a friendless loner. Her quiet world is upended when the cheerful drummer Nijika Ijichi drags her into Kessoku Band, a starter group that suddenly needs a guitarist for a live show that very night.

Thrown onto the stage and into a circle of bandmates, Bocchi has to confront the gap between her online talent and her crippling social anxiety. Alongside Nijika, the cool and mischievous bassist Ryo Yamada, and the bubbly newcomer vocalist Ikuyo Kita, she learns to channel her panic into performance, write lyrics drawn from her own awkward inner monologue, and slowly build the friendships she never thought she could have.

Blending warm slice-of-life comedy with genuinely heartfelt music, the series is celebrated for its inventive, surreal animation that visualises Bocchi's spiraling thoughts, its delusions, and its meltdowns. As Kessoku Band plays the small venue STARRY and chases bigger crowds, Bocchi the Rock! becomes a tender, funny, and relatable story about anxiety, growth, and finding your people through the thing you love most.
