About Naruto
Naruto Uzumaki is a loud, mischievous orphan growing up shunned by the people of the Hidden Leaf Village. Unknown to him for most of his childhood, a fearsome demon fox was sealed inside his body the day he was born, and that buried power is the reason the villagers keep their distance. Starved for attention and acceptance, he acts out and clowns around, but underneath the noise burns a single, fierce dream: to become the Hokage, the strongest ninja and leader his village will one day be forced to respect.
Placed on a three-person squad with the brooding prodigy Sasuke Uchiha and the sharp-tongued Sakura Haruno under the watchful eye of their teacher Kakashi, Naruto slowly learns that strength means nothing without the people you fight for. The series moves from chunin exams and rooftop duels to wars between hidden villages, never losing sight of its real subject, which is the cost of loneliness and the stubborn, almost reckless loyalty that pulls broken people back together. Friendship and rivalry blur until they become the same thing, and every victory is paid for in something lost.
Few anime have shaped a generation the way this one has, turning hand signs and ramen and the word believe-it into a global shorthand for never giving up. The Japanese voice cast gives the show its beating heart, with Junko Takeuchi as the irrepressible Naruto Uzumaki, Noriaki Sugiyama as the haunted Sasuke Uchiha, and Chie Nakamura as the determined Sakura Haruno.
