About Our Dining Table
Our Dining Table is a Japanese live-action romance drama that aired in 2023, adapted from the manga by Mita Ori. It follows Yutaka Hozumi, a reserved young office worker who finds it difficult to eat in front of other people, a quiet anxiety that has shadowed him since childhood. Skilled at cooking but isolated by his discomfort, Yutaka keeps his world small and carefully controlled until a chance encounter at a park changes the routine he has built around himself.
There he meets Minoru Ueda, a warm and easygoing man, and Minoru's much younger brother Tane, a curious little boy who simply wants to learn how to make the rice balls Yutaka has packed. The request is innocent and disarming, and it cracks open Yutaka's solitude. He begins teaching Tane to cook, and gradually the three of them start sharing meals together, turning a single dining table into a place where Yutaka can finally relax and be himself.
Told with a gentle, unhurried tone, Our Dining Table is a story about found family, healing, and the slow growth of feeling between two adults who never expected companionship. Food anchors every episode, with home cooking standing in for care, patience, and the courage it takes to let other people in. The series became part of the wave of heartfelt Japanese romance dramas that travel internationally through streaming, valued by fans for its tenderness and its low-key emotional honesty.
