About Outer Banks
Outer Banks follows a tight-knit group of working-class teenagers who call themselves the Pogues, living on the cut of a North Carolina barrier island. Led by the charismatic John B, the crew spends their summers surfing, scraping by, and dodging the wealthy Kooks who lord over the rich side of the island. Everything changes when John B becomes convinced that the recent disappearance of his father is tied to a legendary shipwreck, the Royal Merchant, and the four hundred million dollars in gold rumored to have gone down with it.
The hunt for the treasure pulls the Pogues into a sprawling mystery that crosses class lines, drags up old family secrets, and puts targets on their backs. John B and his friends JJ, Pope, and Kiara chase clues across marshes, mansions, and open water, while a romance blooms between John B and Sarah Cameron, the daughter of the island's most powerful Kook family. As the stakes climb, the kids find themselves squaring off against ruthless adults who will do anything to claim the gold for themselves.
Across its seasons the show widens its scope far beyond the original island, sending the Pogues to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the swamps of the American South, and even South America in pursuit of new treasures and ancient legends. Friendships are tested, alliances shift, and loyalty becomes the crew's most valuable currency. Blending coming-of-age drama with breakneck adventure, Outer Banks built a passionate young fanbase drawn to its sun-soaked setting, swoony romances, and the simple promise that the Pogues will always have each other's backs.
