About Perfect Life
Perfect Life (Vida perfecta) is a Spanish dramedy created by, co-written by, and starring Leticia Dolera for Movistar+, with the first season released on 19 October 2019 and the second and final season on 19 November 2021. It follows three women in their thirties, longtime friends who were quietly promised a tidy adult life that keeps refusing to arrive, and who hold one another up through the messy gap between expectation and reality. The tone is warm and humane rather than cynical: the show finds comedy in disappointment and tenderness in the small acts of friends showing up for each other.
Maria (Leticia Dolera) is a dentist whose neat, planned existence is upended by an unexpected pregnancy after a one-night stand, forcing her to reckon with a future she never scripted. Her sister Esther (Aixa Villagran) is a painter who cannot make a living from her art and drifts through jobs and relationships, raw and impulsive where Maria is controlled. Cristina (Celia Freijeiro) is a high-flying lawyer, married with daughters, whose enviable life hides its own private cracks. Around them moves Gari, a young man with Down syndrome whom Maria comes to care for, and whose presence the series treats with disarming warmth and dignity.
Across two compact seasons of roughly half-hour episodes, the friendship absorbs unplanned pregnancy, career stumbles, shifting desire, caregiving, and the slow admission that nobody is doing it right. The series was the breakout winner of the 2019 Canneseries festival, taking Best Series under its international title Perfect Life plus a special performance award created to honor its lead trio. Critics praised its honesty about female friendship and adult disappointment, and the show became one of Movistar+'s signature original comedies of its era.
