Poacher

Poacher is an Indian crime drama created by Richie Mehta and released on Amazon Prime Video in 2024. Set in the forests of Kerala, the series dramatizes a real investigation in which a team of forest officers and a wildlife conservation NGO work to dismantle one of the largest ivory poaching networks ever uncovered in India. Told in English and Malayalam, the eight-episode story follows the painstaking, methodical pursuit of a crime that stretches across remote forest divisions and into distant cities.

Forest officer Mala Jogi makes it her mission to trace the supply chain behind a string of elephant deaths, following each lead with a relentless focus that puts strain on her colleagues and herself. She is joined by Alan Joseph, a soft spoken programmer and data analyst whose technical skill helps map the network, and by senior officer Neel Banerjee, who balances institutional pressure with a genuine commitment to the case. Together they piece together how the poaching operation moved ivory through middlemen and dealers.

Executive produced by Alia Bhatt, Poacher was praised for its restraint and realism, treating wildlife crime as an investigative procedural rather than a spectacle.
