About The Believers
The Believers (Thai title Sathu) is a 2024 Thai crime drama released worldwide on Netflix, following three struggling young friends whose ambitious start-up collapses and leaves them buried in debt. Out of options, they take over a failing, half-forgotten temple and reinvent it as a slick, modern faith brand, applying the marketing instincts of their old venture to donations, merchandise, and devotion. What begins as a desperate scheme to climb out of a hole quickly snowballs into a wildly profitable empire built on belief.
At the center are Win, a sharp computer-engineering dropout who runs the strategy and messaging; Game, the connector who brings the money and the nerve; and Dear, a designer who shapes the temple's polished public image. As the cash and the crowds grow, so do the temptations, the rivalries, and the lies the friends must tell to keep the operation running, and the bonds that once held them together begin to bend under the weight of ambition.
Created and directed by Wattanapong Wongwan, the series uses its premise as a pointed satire of the commercialization of faith, examining how easily sincerity, spectacle, and self-interest blur when piety becomes a product. As the stakes escalate and the trio's choices draw escalating danger, The Believers keeps its focus on friendship and ambition while treating its darker turns with restraint.
