About The Night Manager
The Night Manager is an Indian Hindi-language spy thriller for Disney+ Hotstar, an adaptation of the John le Carre novel relocated to a contemporary South Asian setting. It follows Shaan Sengupta, a composed hotel night manager whose quiet, observant professionalism hides a steady nerve. When a chance encounter draws him into the orbit of a powerful and dangerous figure, an intelligence officer recognizes that Shaan is exactly the kind of person who could get close to someone almost no one else can reach.
Recruited and reshaped into a new identity, Shaan is sent to infiltrate the inner circle of Shelly Rungta, a charismatic and outwardly respectable businessman whose charm masks a ruthless arms-dealing empire. The series builds its tension less around spectacle than around proximity, the constant strain of a man living a lie inside the home of someone who would not hesitate to destroy him if the mask ever slipped. Every dinner, every confidence, every small kindness becomes a test of nerve.
Across its seven episodes the show frames the moral cost of going undercover, the way trust becomes a weapon and loyalty becomes a trap, and the quiet ethical erosion of a decent man asked to deceive people who have welcomed him in. Anchored by Aditya Roy Kapur as the watchful Shaan and Anil Kapoor as the magnetic, menacing Shelly Rungta, with Shobhita Dhulipala in a key supporting role, the series treats its darker material in restrained, character-driven terms and became one of the streamer's higher-profile Indian originals.
