About Yabani
Yabani is a Turkish family drama that began on Fox in September 2023 and continued on the Now channel, running for two seasons and 51 episodes through January 2025. It tells the story of Yaman, a young man who was taken from a wealthy Istanbul family as a small child and grew up alone on the streets, surviving on his wits and the loyalty of the friends who became his real family. Years later, the truth about who he is comes to light, and he is brought back into the privileged world he was stolen from.
Returning to the Soysalan family means stepping into a life of money, expectations, and old wounds that never healed. Yaman has to learn the manners and rules of a household that feels foreign to him, while the family struggles to accept a son who is at once a stranger and the child they spent years mourning. His bond with Ruya, a warm-hearted young woman who lives by her own values rather than the path her family wants for her, becomes one of the emotional centers of the series, even as the gap between the streets that raised him and the mansion that claims him keeps pulling at him.
Across its run the series balances tender reunion and slow-burning romance with the tension of family secrets, divided loyalties, and the question of where Yaman truly belongs. The story is told in a restrained, character-driven way, leaning on heartfelt performances and the clash between two very different worlds rather than on graphic conflict, and it became one of the more talked-about Turkish dramas of its seasons. The cast, led by Halit Ozgur Sari and Simay Barlas, earned strong fan attention and award recognition for the central pairing.
