Character Arc
Akihito Narihisago was once a brilliant and principled police detective with a loving family, until a serial killer's actions shattered his life and set him on a path of vengeance and self-destruction. By the time the series begins he is no longer a free man, but his unmatched deductive instincts make him indispensable to the Kura team, which deploys him as their primary diver into the id wells under the codename 'Sakaido.'
Inside each id well, Narihisago awakens as Sakaido with no memory of who he is, knowing only that a girl named Kaeru lies dead and that he must find out who killed her. This recurring ritual lets him channel pure detective instinct, and over the season his reconstructed personas and his real self begin to inform one another, blurring the line between the wounded man and the idealized 'brilliant detective' he becomes in the dream.
His arc drives the central conflict as he pursues the shadowy figure responsible for cultivating killers, confronting both the system that uses him and his own grief. Narihisago's struggle to hold onto his humanity and his sense of justice, even while imprisoned and exploited, anchors the emotional core of ID:INVADED and shapes its bittersweet resolution.
