About ID:INVADED
ID:INVADED is an original science-fiction detective anime produced by studio NAZ and directed by Ei Aoki, with an original story by acclaimed novelist Otaro Maijo. Set in a near future where a device called the Mizuhanome can detect the 'cognition particles' left behind by people who harbor murderous intent, the series follows the Kura investigative team as they hunt serial killers using a radical new method. By collecting these particles from a crime scene, Kura can reconstruct a fractured, dreamlike mental landscape known as an 'id well' that represents the killer's subconscious.
Into these surreal wells they send a 'brilliant detective,' a person who enters the id well with their memories wiped, awakening inside the killer's mind with a single instinct: a corpse is always present, and that corpse must be solved. The primary diver is Akihito Narihisago, a once-respected detective who fell from grace after personal tragedy and now operates inside the wells under the name Sakaido. Guiding and analyzing him from the outside is a rotating team of investigators and field agents who feed him clues and pull him back to reality before the unstable dream collapses.
Across thirteen episodes the show stitches together a season-long puzzle, with each id well functioning as a self-contained locked-room mystery that gradually reveals a larger conspiracy. As rookie analyst Koharu Hondomachi is drawn deeper into the work and the team confronts a mysterious figure manipulating killers from the shadows, ID:INVADED blends hard procedural logic with abstract, visually inventive dream worlds, asking how far a broken person will go to find meaning in death and justice.
