Character Arc
Gesicht is a highly advanced Europol robot detective and the central figure of Pluto. Outwardly composed and methodical, he is assigned to investigate a series of killings that target the world's most advanced robots and the humans linked to them. As one of the seven great robots himself, Gesicht slowly realizes that the case is not only a mystery to be solved but a threat that encircles him personally.
Much of Gesicht's arc turns inward. He is troubled by recurring dreams and by gaps in his own memory, and the investigation forces him to confront fragments of a past shaped by a recent war. His marriage to a fellow robot, his moments of doubt, and his capacity for grief blur the line between machine and person, making him a deeply sympathetic protagonist whose composure conceals real anguish.
Through Gesicht, the series explores its core questions about identity, conscience, and the cost of violence. His pursuit of the truth becomes a journey toward understanding hatred itself, and his story anchors the anime's grave, anti-war themes. The role marked a milestone for veteran voice actor Shinshu Fuji, for whom Gesicht was a rare leading part.
