Character Arc

Kagura is a cheerful, ravenous girl from the alien Yato clan, one of the strongest and most feared warrior races in the galaxy. She wanders into Edo looking for work and ends up joining the Yorozuya, where her superhuman strength, her trusty purple umbrella and her bottomless appetite quickly make her an essential and chaotic member of Gintoki's crew.

Despite her violent heritage, Kagura is determined to live a normal life and refuses to become the killer her bloodline expects her to be. Her relationship with her estranged father Umibozu and her brother Kamui forms one of the series' most affecting threads, as she struggles to honor her family while choosing kindness over carnage.

Over the course of the story Kagura grows from a scrappy comic-relief tagalong into a fierce, principled fighter who protects her found family with the same loyalty Gintoki shows her. Funny, fearless and surprisingly tender, she is a fan favorite who proves you can punch through a wall and still have a soft heart.
