Kiera Cameron begins the series as a dedicated City Protective Services officer in the corporate-controlled 2077, a loyal enforcer with a husband and young son waiting for her at home. When the time-travel device used by the Liber8 terrorists activates during their execution, she is hurled back to 2012 along with them. Desperate to return to her family, she clings to the belief that capturing Liber8 and preserving the timeline is the only path home.
Embedding herself with the Vancouver Police Department under a false federal identity, Kiera leans on her advanced CMR suit and the embedded artificial intelligence linked to a young Alec Sadler to function in an unfamiliar era. As she pursues the insurgents, she is repeatedly forced to confront the brutality and inequality of the future she serves, and her certainty that the corporate world is worth defending starts to crack.
Over four seasons Kiera evolves from a by-the-book protector into a far more conflicted figure, weighing loyalty to her old life against the growing evidence that the future could be remade for the better. Her bond with detective Carlos Fonnegra and her complicated relationship with Alec anchor her in the present, and by the finale she must accept that saving the timeline and saving the people she loves may be impossible to do at once.
