About Another Self
Another Self (Turkish title Zeytin Agaci, meaning The Olive Tree) follows three close women friends who leave the noise of Istanbul behind for the quiet seaside town of Ayvalik. Ada, a respected surgeon, is facing a serious illness and reluctantly agrees to see an unconventional healer who treats the body by first tending to old emotional wounds. Her friends Sevgi and Leyla come along, and what begins as support for one woman slowly becomes a season of reckoning for all three.
Across olive groves and long seaside afternoons, the series turns from physical recovery toward the harder work of self-discovery. The healer's method asks each woman to look at inherited grief, family secrets, and the patterns passed down through generations. Sevgi, who first sought out alternative therapy, confronts loss and longing; Leyla, an idealistic lawyer, begins to question the life and choices she once took for granted. Friendship is the steady thread that holds them as buried truths surface.
Soulful and introspective rather than melodramatic, Another Self is a warm meditation on illness, forgiveness, and the stories families carry without speaking them aloud. Created by writer Nuran Evren Sit and filmed in the real coastal town of Ayvalik, the two-season Netflix drama uses a gentle pace and a sense of place to explore how people heal when they finally stop running from their pasts.
