About Welcome to Eden
Welcome to Eden (Spanish title Bienvenidos a Eden) is a Spanish young-adult mystery-thriller that premiered on Netflix on May 6, 2022. Created by Joaquin Gorriz and Guillermo Lopez Sanchez, the series opens with a handful of social-media-savvy twentysomethings receiving a viral invitation to an exclusive launch party for a new drink, hosted on a remote, unspoiled island. For Zoa, played by Amaia Aberasturi, the promise of escape and belonging is impossible to resist, and she boards a boat with strangers chasing the same dream.
What greets them looks like paradise: clear water, open skies, and a tight-knit community that speaks the language of wellness, purpose, and starting over. But the glossy surface quickly gives way to rules, surveillance, and the slow realization that leaving is not part of the offer. As Zoa pieces together what the island really is and who is steering it, the show balances sun-drenched spectacle with a steadily tightening sense of unease, framing the central question of whether anyone can truly walk away.
Across two seasons and sixteen episodes, the series widens its lens from the newcomers to the people who run Eden, including influencer-turned-resident Africa, played by Belinda, and longtime believer Bel, played by Begona Vargas. The story tracks shifting loyalties, secret alliances, and escape plans, while the mainland is pulled in as families and outsiders begin asking questions. Netflix released the second season on April 21, 2023, and confirmed in July 2023 that the show would not return for a third, leaving its twisty utopia as a self-contained two-season puzzle.
