About Babanba Banban Vampire

Babanba Banban Vampire is a 2025 Japanese comedy anime adapted from Hiromasa Okujima's manga. At its center is Ranmaru Mori, a centuries-old vampire with a very particular palate: he only craves the blood of pure-hearted eighteen-year-olds. To get to his ideal meal, he takes a part-time job at a long-running public bathhouse called Koi-no-Yu, where he can keep a close eye on a wholesome high-schooler named Rihito Tatsuno until the boy's eighteenth birthday.

The trouble for Ranmaru is that staying pure is hard when you are a teenager, so the ancient vampire appoints himself Rihito's self-styled guardian and chaperone. He meddles, schemes, and panics his way through every crush, confession, and after-school hangout, determined to keep Rihito single and oblivious to romance. What starts as a predator counting down the days turns into an unlikely odd-couple comedy, with the immortal becoming oddly protective of the very boy he set out to feed on.

Produced by studio Gaina, the series aired on TV Asahi's IMAnimation block from January to March 2025 and streamed worldwide on Netflix. Light, warm, and gag-driven, it leans on the contrast between Ranmaru's dramatic centuries of experience and the very ordinary problems of high-school life at a neighborhood bathhouse.
