About Baby Fever
Baby Fever is a Danish romantic comedy created by Amalie Næsby Fick and Nikolaj Feifer that premiered on Netflix on June 8, 2022. The series follows Nana, an accomplished fertility doctor in Copenhagen who spends her days helping other people start families while quietly feeling the pressure of her own biological clock. After a tipsy lapse in judgment one night at the clinic, she inseminates herself with a sperm sample belonging to her ex-boyfriend, Mathias, setting off a personal and professional crisis she never planned for.
What begins as a single impulsive decision quickly snowballs into a tangle of secrets, ethics, and reawakened feelings. Nana must keep her pregnancy hidden from colleagues at the clinic where she works, navigate the awkward reality that the biological father is an ex she has unfinished business with, and lean on her closest friends as the truth threatens to surface. The show treats a provocative premise with a light, character-driven touch, mining humor and warmth from the messiness of modern relationships rather than shock value.
Anchored by Josephine Park's lead performance as Nana, Baby Fever balances comedy with genuine questions about love, autonomy, and what it means to want a family on your own terms. Simon Sears plays Mathias, the ex whose unexpected involvement reshapes both their lives, while Olivia Joof Lewerissa rounds out the core ensemble as Simone. A second season expanded the story further, continuing to follow Nana as she lives with the consequences of her choice and the relationships it complicates.
