About Bandish Bandits
Bandish Bandits is an Indian Hindi-language musical drama created by Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari for Prime Video, premiering in 2020 and returning for its second season in 2024. The series stages a head-on collision between two musical worlds: the rigorous, centuries-deep tradition of Hindustani classical music and the bright, viral immediacy of contemporary pop. At its center are Radhe Rathod, a classically trained prodigy raised inside a revered Rajasthan gharana, and Tamanna Sharma, a free-spirited pop singer chasing online stardom. What begins as a clash of styles becomes a love story and a meditation on what it costs to honor a legacy while finding your own voice.
Presiding over Radhe's world is Pandit Radhemohan Rathod, the formidable gharana patriarch and reigning Sangeet Samrat whose discipline shapes every note Radhe plays. The first season builds toward Radhe's coronation as the new Sangeet Samrat, while Tamanna pulls him toward a faster, looser, more modern kind of music. Season 2 opens months later in Jodhpur with the patriarch's passing, and the weight of carrying the Rathod legacy forward falls squarely on Radhe's shoulders. The rivalry deepens, the stakes turn from personal to public, and the music grows more ambitious as the two former lovers are drawn back together inside a high-pressure competition to crown India's top band.
Praised for its lavish soundtrack and grounded performances, Bandish Bandits treats music as both spectacle and emotional language, letting raga and pop trade verses in a way few Indian series have attempted. The cast pairs rising leads Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhry with screen veteran Naseeruddin Shah, alongside Sheeba Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, Rajesh Tailang, Kunaal Roy Kapur, and Season 2 additions Divya Dutta and Rohan Gurbaxani. The result is a warm, melodious fan favorite about legacy, ambition, and the kind of love that can only be expressed in song.
