About Khalbali Records
Khalbali Records is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language musical drama directed by Devanshu Singh and produced by Colosceum Media. Set inside the cutthroat machinery of the Indian music business, the series follows the fallout when a charismatic independent rockstar named Mauj is killed during a concert, leaving behind an unfinished dream of building a record label that would put artists ahead of profit. His death becomes the spark that pushes the people around him to decide what kind of industry they actually want to be part of.
At the center of the conflict is the Rai Singh family. Manavendra Rai Singh, played by Ram Kapoor, runs Galaxy Records, a commercial powerhouse where the bottom line routinely wins out over art. His son Raghav, drawn to Mauj's idealism, walks away from the legacy his father has mapped out for him and sets out to launch a new kind of label of his own, the upstart Khalbali Records that aims to put musicians first. The result is a generational and philosophical clash between old-guard control and a hungry new vision for how music should be made and shared.
Across eight episodes the show threads original music, anchored by composer Amit Trivedi and the independent collective Azadi Records, through a story about ambition, exploitation, and the cost of artistic integrity. It frames the breakthrough every young artist chases against the survival instincts of a once-dominant label fighting to stay relevant, and asks whether art and commerce can ever truly share the same room.
