About Black Clover
Black Clover is a fantasy action anime produced by Studio Pierrot, adapted from the long-running shonen manga by Yuki Tabata. It is set in the Clover Kingdom, a world where almost everyone is born with the ability to wield magic and a person's social standing is often tied to how much magical power they possess. The story follows Asta, an orphan who was born without any magic at all, a near impossible condition in a society that runs on it. Despite that handicap, Asta refuses to give up on his dream and trains his body relentlessly to keep pace with his gifted peers.
Asta grew up in a church in the rural village of Hage alongside his foster brother and rival, Yuno, who was blessed with extraordinary magical talent. The two boys make a shared vow to compete for the title of Wizard King, the strongest mage in the kingdom and its most honored protector. When Asta finally receives a rare five leaf clover grimoire containing anti magic swords, he gains a way to fight back against opponents who once seemed far beyond his reach. Both boys join the Magic Knights, the kingdom's elite order of mage soldiers, and begin climbing the ranks.
Assigned to the rowdy and underestimated Black Bulls squad, Asta meets a colorful cast of fellow knights, including the royal mage Noelle Silva, and slowly proves that determination can rival raw talent. The series builds toward larger conflicts involving rival kingdoms, ancient elves, and devils whose power threatens the entire land. Across four seasons and 170 episodes, Black Clover blends comedy, friendship, and escalating battles while keeping its underdog hero at the center. The television run concluded in 2021, with the story continuing in other formats afterward.
