About Bon Appetit, Your Majesty
Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (Korean title Pyehadukke Jinsang) is a South Korean time-slip romantic fantasy that aired on tvN and streamed worldwide on Netflix in 2025. The series follows Yeon Ji-young, a brilliant chef trained in modern French cuisine, who at the peak of her career is suddenly hurled back in time to the Joseon dynasty. Stranded centuries from home, she finds herself in the royal palace and must cook to survive under the watchful eye of a notoriously demanding monarch.
That monarch is Yi Heon, a sharp and feared king remembered as both the most refined gourmet of his age and one of its harshest tyrants. As Ji-young serves dishes that bridge the gap between her century and his, she begins to thaw the king's guarded heart while navigating the treacherous politics of the court. Standing against her is the ambitious junior consort Kang Mok-ju, whose hunger for power and ties to a scheming prince threaten both the kitchen and the throne.
Blending culinary spectacle, palace intrigue, comedy, and tender romance, the drama leans on the fish-out-of-water premise of a modern professional adapting her craft to a pre-modern kitchen. Across twelve episodes it builds a slow-burn love story between chef and king, using food as the language through which trust, desire, and political alliance are negotiated.
