About Darna
Darna is a Philippine action fantasy series based on the iconic superheroine created by komiks legend Mars Ravelo. It aired on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5 from August 2022 to February 2023 and streamed on iWantTFC, reintroducing one of the most famous characters in Filipino popular culture to a new generation. The story centers on Narda, an ordinary young woman who swallows a mysterious white stone and is transformed into Darna, a powerful flying heroine sworn to protect humanity.
Narda discovers that her destiny is tied to a long line of guardians and to the warrior Darna, whose strength she now carries. As she learns to wield her new abilities, she comes into conflict with Regina Vergara, a wealthy and ambitious woman who becomes the serpent-haired villain Valentina. Their rivalry escalates into a battle that threatens not only the city but the balance between two warring worlds, forcing Narda to choose between an ordinary life and the burdens of being a hero.
Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and directed by Chito S. Rono and Avel Sunpongco, the 2022 series was one of ABS-CBN's most ambitious modern productions, featuring large-scale visual effects and aerial action sequences. Jane De Leon was cast in the title role after an extensive search, with Janella Salvador as the antagonist Valentina. The adaptation drew heavy public attention as the latest screen incarnation of a character previously played by stars such as Vilma Santos, Nanette Medved, and Marian Rivera.
