About Honey Lemon Soda
Honey Lemon Soda is a 2025 shoujo romance anime adapted from Mayu Murata's long-running manga and animated by J.C.Staff. It follows Uka Ishimori, a painfully shy girl who was so withdrawn during middle school that classmates nicknamed her rock, because she would freeze up and go silent whenever anyone spoke to her. Hoping for a fresh start, Uka enrolls at a new high school determined to change, even if she has no idea where to begin.
Her quiet world is upended by Kai Miura, a bright and easygoing classmate with distinctive lemon-colored hair whom she first encountered before the school year began. Kai is everything Uka is not, popular, confident, and unafraid to speak his mind, yet he takes a genuine interest in helping her come out of her shell. As the two grow closer, Uka slowly learns to raise her voice, make friends, and believe that she deserves a place among her peers.
Gentle and warmhearted, the series leans into the tender awkwardness of a first crush and the small, hard-won victories of building self-confidence. Surrounded by a widening circle of friends, including her cheerful classmate Ayumi Endo, Uka discovers that growing up is less about becoming someone new than about finding the courage to be seen. The first season aired in Japan from January to March 2025 on Fuji TV's +Ultra block, with a simultaneous English-subtitled and dubbed release on Crunchyroll.
