About The Imperfects

The Imperfects follows three young adults whose lives are upended after they discover that an experimental gene-therapy treatment has rewritten their DNA. Abbi Singh, Tilda Weber and Juan Ruiz were each treated years earlier by Dr. Alex Sarkov, a brilliant and reckless geneticist, and now the side effects are surfacing in monstrous ways. What was sold to them as a cure for a rare genetic disorder has instead begun turning them into creatures pulled straight from folklore and horror.

As their bodies change, the trio realises they are becoming living versions of classic monsters. Abbi develops pheromones that make anyone nearby fall instantly and dangerously infatuated with her, Tilda gains overwhelming sound-based powers that echo a banshee, and Juan transforms into a hulking, beastly creature reminiscent of a chupacabra when his emotions spike. Frightened and desperate, they band together to track down the scientist responsible and force him to reverse what he has done.

Their hunt for Dr. Sarkov pulls them into a shadowy world of rival researchers, a secretive biotech organisation and other test subjects who did not survive their transformations intact. Along the way the three so-called Imperfects must learn to control their abilities, protect the people they love and decide whether they truly want a cure or whether the monsters they have become are simply who they were always meant to be.
