About Undekhi
Undekhi is an Indian crime thriller that premiered on SonyLIV in July 2020, created by Sidharth Sengupta and largely directed by Ashish R. Shukla. The story is set against a lavish destination wedding hosted by the wealthy and well-connected Atwal family, where the celebration is meant to project power, polish, and respectability. During the festivities, a brutal act of violence is accidentally caught on a videographer's camera, and that single unplanned recording becomes the piece of truth a powerful family will do almost anything to make disappear.
What follows is a tense cat-and-mouse pursuit. On one side stands the Atwal patriarch, Papaji, played by Harsh Chhaya, a man accustomed to bending people and outcomes to his will, who treats the footage as a problem to be managed rather than a wrong to be answered for. On the other side is DSP Barun Ghosh, played by Dibyendu Bhattacharya, a soft-spoken policeman from West Bengal whose plain manner hides a stubborn, methodical commitment to the truth. Caught between them is Rishi, played by Abhishek Chauhan, an ordinary wedding videographer whose conscience will not let him look away from what his camera saw.
Across three seasons spanning 2020 to 2024, the series widens from that first night into a larger study of influence, complicity, and the slow courage it takes to resist a family that owns the room. Rather than dwell on the mechanics of the crime, Undekhi keeps its focus on the moral pressure squeezing each character, the question of who will be believed, and the toll of standing up when silence would be safer. Violence and danger are present but handled in restrained, suggestive terms, with the suspense coming from secrets, surveillance, and the steady erosion of the cover-up. The show became one of SonyLIV's signature crime dramas, praised for its grounded performances and its sympathy for the overlooked few who refuse to let an injustice stay unseen.
