Character Arc
Kim Ji-ung is a documentary producer and Choi Ung's longtime childhood friend, the person responsible for resurrecting the old school documentary and persuading both Ung and Kook Yeon-su to take part in a follow-up. Outwardly cheerful, professional, and dependable, he is the steady presence who keeps the production running, but he carries an emotional weight that gradually comes to the surface as the series unfolds.
Ji-ung has quietly harbored feelings for Yeon-su for years, a love complicated by his deep loyalty to his best friend Choi Ung. His backstory, including a strained relationship with his mother and a sense of having always stood at the edges of other people's lives, gives his character a melancholy undercurrent beneath his friendly exterior.
Throughout the drama, Ji-ung's arc explores the pain of unrequited love and the difficulty of choosing between his heart and the friendships that define him. Rather than becoming a source of bitterness, his journey moves toward acceptance and self-understanding, making him one of the series' most sympathetic and emotionally resonant supporting figures.
