Character Arc
Pete Sonoko is one of the three Sonoko brothers at the center of Reckless. Raised in comfort and used to a city life of privilege, Pete embodies the confidence and impulsiveness of young men who have rarely faced real consequences. That world cracks open on the night an illegal street race ends in tragedy, an event that pulls the entire family into crisis and sets the series in motion.
As the family flees the city for a remote village, Pete is forced to adjust to an environment where his name and money carry little weight. Much of his arc turns on responsibility: how much of the night belongs to him, what he owes his brothers, and whether he can step up as the family tries to stay together and stay hidden. The unfamiliar village tests his temperament and his loyalties.
Across the first season, Pete's story is one of reckoning and gradual maturity. The show frames his journey around guilt and the difficult work of earning back trust, both within the family and in the new community that slowly takes them in. His relationships with Mika and Edward remain the emotional core of his arc, as the brothers are pushed to rely on one another in ways their old life never demanded.
