About First Kill
First Kill is a supernatural teen drama that follows Juliette Fairmont, a teenage vampire born into an ancient and powerful family known as the Legacies, and Calliope Burns, a girl raised in a household of trained monster hunters. Both young women are facing a defining rite of passage. Juliette must complete her first kill to fully come into her vampiric nature and earn her place among her kind, while Calliope is eager to prove herself by claiming her first hunt. The catch is that the two girls develop powerful feelings for each other before either of them realizes what the other truly is.
Set in the fictional town of Savannah, Georgia, the series blends the everyday anxieties of high school crushes and family expectations with the heightened stakes of a secret war between monsters and the hunters sworn to destroy them. As Juliette and Calliope grow closer, the long-standing hostility between their families threatens to tear them apart and pull both households into open conflict. The romance is framed as a star-crossed love story, with each girl torn between loyalty to her family and her growing devotion to the other.
Across its eight-episode run, First Kill explores themes of identity, first love, family duty and the cost of violence. The Fairmont and Burns families each carry secrets that reshape the central relationship as the season progresses, and the line between predator and protector becomes increasingly blurred. The show leans into a clean, earnest teen-supernatural tone, centering a queer love story at a time when openly sapphic leads were still rare in the genre. Netflix released the full season in June 2022 and announced its cancellation that August, leaving the series with a single season.
