About Gaddar
Gaddar is a Turkish crime drama produced by Ay Yapim that aired in 2024 on the channel formerly known as FOX Turkey, which rebranded to NOW during the show's run. Across a single season of twenty episodes, the series follows Daghan Yalcin, a young man who returns to his old Istanbul neighborhood while on leave from his military service, only to discover that the world he left behind has quietly come apart. His parents no longer speak, his younger brother has slipped away from school, and the woman he loved has moved on, leaving Daghan to take the measure of a home that no longer feels like one.
Played by Cagatay Ulusoy, Daghan is a principled man whose loyalty to the people around him repeatedly pulls him toward decisions he never planned to make. When a powerful local figure known only as the Mudur, portrayed by Onur Saylak, offers him a way to settle his family's debts and protect those he cares about, Daghan is drawn into a shadow economy of favors and obligations that tests how far a decent person will go for the ones he loves. Meanwhile his former sweetheart Aydan Gunes, played by Sumeyye Aydogan, has built a new life that keeps crossing back into his, complicating his attempt to start over.
Drawing loosely on real Turkish criminal cases, Gaddar balances its tense, restrained underworld storyline with an intimate portrait of family, regret, and the cost of choices made under pressure. The series keeps its focus on character and consequence rather than spectacle, tracing how a single compromise can ripple outward through a neighborhood and a household. With Cagatay Ulusoy returning to Turkish television in the title role, the show became a notable 2024 release before concluding its story at the end of its twenty-episode run in June 2024.
