About The Rising of the Shield Hero

The Rising of the Shield Hero follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary young man who is suddenly summoned to the kingdom of Melromarc as one of four legendary Cardinal Heroes. Each hero is bound to a single weapon, and Naofumi is saddled with the Shield, the only hero unable to deal direct damage and the one the other heroes and the public quickly look down on.

Almost immediately Naofumi is betrayed and falsely accused, leaving him disgraced, distrusted, and forced to survive alone with almost no resources. Hardened by the experience, he buys a young demi-human slave named Raphtalia to fight at his side and later gains the company of a filolial named Filo. Together this small party begins the long climb back toward respect while preparing for the recurring catastrophes known as the Waves of Calamity.

Produced by Kinema Citrus and based on Aneko Yusagi's light novel series, the show blends classic isekai adventure with party-building, leveling mechanics, and a redemption-driven story. As the seasons progress, Naofumi and his companions travel beyond Melromarc, confront the threat behind the Waves, and gradually transform a reviled outcast into one of the world's most trusted protectors.
