About The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio
The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio follows two high school girls who secretly work as professional voice actresses while keeping their day-to-day school lives separate from their careers. Yumiko Sato, an outgoing gyaru, performs under the bright and bubbly stage name Yasumi Utatane, projecting a cheerful idol-style persona for her fans. When she is assigned to co-host a new weekly radio program, she is dismayed to learn that her partner is Chika Watanabe, a quiet and prickly classmate she has repeatedly clashed with, who voices roles under the elegant stage name Yuhi Yugure.
On the air the pair present a flawless picture of close friendship, trading warm banter and inside jokes that delight their listeners. The moment the microphones switch off, however, their genuine personalities collide and they bicker constantly, struggling to reconcile their carefully managed public images with the messy reality behind the scenes. As the radio show grows in popularity, the two are forced to spend more time together and gradually confront what their on-air chemistry might really mean.
Adapted by studio Connect from the light novel series written by Ko Nigatsu and illustrated by Saba Mizore, the show offers an affectionate, behind-the-curtain look at the Japanese voice acting industry. Blending workplace comedy with a slow-building friendship, it explores the pressures of maintaining a public persona, the camaraderie and rivalry among young performers, and the warmth that emerges when two very different girls learn to understand each other.
