About Warrior Nun
Warrior Nun is a Netflix supernatural action-fantasy series developed by Simon Barry and based on the comic book character created by Ben Dunn. The story opens when a young orphan named Ava Silva wakes up in a morgue, suddenly alive again after years as a quadriplegic. She soon discovers that a powerful divine artifact known as the Halo has been embedded in her back, granting her supernatural abilities and a connection to a hidden world.
The Halo marks Ava as the new Halo Bearer, the latest in a long line of warriors tied to a secret society called the Order of the Cruciform Sword. This order of demon-fighting nuns has battled dark forces for centuries, and Ava is reluctantly pulled into their war against demons and the powerful interests that seek the Halo for themselves. As she learns to control her gifts, she forms close bonds with the women of the order, especially the disciplined and compassionate Sister Beatrice.
Across two seasons and eighteen episodes, the show blends martial-arts action, religious mythology, and coming-of-age drama as Ava wrestles with destiny, faith, and free will. Conspiracies inside and outside the Church threaten the order, and the team faces increasingly dangerous supernatural enemies. Although Netflix ended the series after the second season, a passionate fan campaign rallied to celebrate the show and push for its continuation in other forms.
