About Good Boy
Good Boy is a 2025 South Korean action-comedy crime series that aired on JTBC, written by Lee Dae-il and directed by Shim Na-yeon. The premise gives the police procedural a sporting twist: a group of former Olympic-medalist athletes, their competitive careers cut short by injury, scandal, or hard financial reality, are recruited together into a special police unit. Trading stadiums for the streets of the fictional Inseong City, this rag-tag team learns to redirect the discipline and physical gifts honed in elite sport toward catching the criminals an ordinary force cannot reach.
Park Bo-gum leads as Yoon Dong-ju, a former national boxing champion whose burning sense of justice makes him the heart of the team, while Kim So-hyun plays Ji Han-na, a celebrated Olympic shooting gold medalist whose pinpoint precision survives the personal crisis that ended her athletic career. Around them assemble teammates drawn from disciplines such as wrestling, fencing, and discus, each contributing a distinct skill to the squad. Their target is a corruption that runs deeper than street crime, reaching into the hidden power structures that quietly govern the city.
Tonally, Good Boy leans into brisk, crowd-pleasing action laced with humor and camaraderie, balancing larger-than-life set pieces against the underdog story of athletes searching for a second purpose. The drama frames its heroes as outsiders proving that the qualities that made them champions, namely focus, resilience, and teamwork, translate into a different kind of public service. Running sixteen episodes from May to July 2025, it pairs spectacle with an earnest streak about second chances and the cost of standing up to entrenched power.
