About Mono
Mono is a 2025 Japanese slice-of-life anime adapted from the four-panel manga by Afro, the creator of Laid-Back Camp. Produced by studio Soigne, the series aired in Japan from April to June 2025 and carries the same gentle, sunny iyashikei spirit as its predecessor. It follows a small group of high-school girls in the photography and cinema clubs who travel around the scenic Yamanashi countryside, capturing everyday moments with their cameras and turning ordinary outings into quiet little adventures.
At the center are Satsuki Amamiya, the cheerful president of the Photography Club, and her energetic best friend An Kiriyama, who loves filming with her action camera. When the dwindling Cinema Club merges with the photographers, the girls join forces with former cinema president Sakurako Shikishima and their easygoing club sponsor Haruno Akiyama, a local manga artist who knows all the best spots in the prefecture. Together they plan day trips, scout photogenic locations, and share snacks and scenery along the way.
Wholesome and unhurried, Mono is a comfort watch built on warm friendship, hobby enthusiasm, and the simple joy of documenting a beautiful day. There is no real conflict to speak of, just sunlit landscapes, gentle humor, and the contented rhythm of cute girls doing cute things. For fans of Laid-Back Camp and other relaxing cute-girls-doing-cute-things series, it offers exactly the kind of cozy, low-stakes charm the genre is loved for.
